Killing all five members of the opposing team within a few seconds of one another in League of Legends is such an impressive feat that it has its own name: "pentakill." Like many awesome League plays, it's also old hat by pro players' standards. In 2011, Jorn released his second live album with footage from the concert of the 2010 Sweden Rock Festival, the album was called Live in Black 12 Also in 2011, he was a guest on female singer Amanda Somerville 's first metal project Trillium singing on the vocal duet track 'Scream It'.
Smite and Ignite is a metal album by the fictional band Pentakill from Riot Games , the developer of the video game League of Legends The band features a series of characters from the video game, and the album features songs based and named on items from it as well.
You can download their full album free from Riot, and enjoy hit head-banging tracks like Ohmwrecker”, Deathfire Grasp”, and Last Whisper” for as long as your blown, metalloid minds can handle. It's the image when you just get the pentakill in the League of Legends game but will be your face in the middle.
In 2014, the Riot Games music label issued the band's first foray out of the video game realm, "Smite And Ignite" — an eight-track collection of appropriately punishing songs that was written completely in-house at Riot, and supported by the talents of studio musicians, including ZP Theart of DRAGONFORCE, Derek Sherinian of DREAM THEATER, Lohner and Lande.
The video, you'll notice something that makes it seem as though there's a chance we might be getting some additional Pentakill skins for other champions besides the five listed above. With the exception of a show for the League of Legends Brazilian Championship, many believed the band would simply fade into obscurity in the game's long and storied history.
Conceived by California-based gaming gurus streamer Riot Games in 2014, Pentakill exist purely in the imaginations of their creators - and the 100 million global fans of League of Legends , the multiplayer online battle arena game that spawned the band's members, Karthus the Deathsinger, Yorick, Sona, Olaf and lead guitarist Mordekaiser the Master of Metal.
The result, released just recently on the iTunes app store, allows League of Legends players to quickly check up on the strengths and skills of one of those 100+ champion characters. Seven new Pentakill icons are also available for 250 RP each: Pentakill Kayle Icon, Pentakill II icon, Pentakill Karthus Icon, Pentakill Olaf icon, Pentakill Yorick icon, Pentakill Sona icon, and the Pentakill Mordekaiser icon.
Pentakill Karthus was introduced to us in the role of a singer in the heavy metal band - Pentakill. He was, along with Olaf being inspired by Lemmy Killmister, Mordekaiser by GWAR (sort of), Karthus by Jørn Lande and Sona by Simone Simons. In short: one of CLG's players killed all five of TSM's players ("League of Legends" is a five-on-five game).
In 2014 the Riot label issued the band's first foray out of the video game realm, an eight-track collection of appropriately punishing songs titled Smite and Ignite that relied on the talents of session musicians, including vocalists Jorn Lande (Masterplan) and ZP Theart (Dragonforce).
Factor in the eye-popping visuals and explosive violence of League of Legends - witness the Mortal Reminder video for evidence - and Pentakill could hardly be more fitting (or preposterous) standard bearers for the love-in between gaming and metal fans, blurring the lines between so-called real music and digital fantasy in a way that no acts have managed before.
JL: Pentakill is still so fresh and new that it doesn't seem right to start playing songs from the two albums, especially since there hasn't been any Pentakill tour yet or individual shows to establish the band as a live act in the global music scene.
